Founded in 1996, the Sisters of Saint Joseph Volunteer Corps provides a faith formation experience, fostering the relationship between young people and the needs of their communities. Several times each year, high school and college students are welcomed by the Sisters at the St. Boniface Convent to share their home for a week of volunteer service, community living and prayer, and fun. The experience of a week resonates for a lifetime as students share this extraordinary opportunity to live in religious community and to learn about society, service, and themselves.
In addition, the Sisters of Saint Joseph Volunteer Corps is a partner with the Notre Dame Mission Volunteers-AmeriCorps in which they offer a year-long volunteer experience, with AmeriCorps benefits, at St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center and Nativity Preparatory Academy.

We are actively seeking two candidates as Notre Dame AmeriCorps Volunteer- Teaching Assistants. A candidate must possess a commitment to inner city education and be excited about the idea of providing students of all faiths and cultures with a structured, challenging and supportive educational program which seeks to foster their intellectual, moral, and emotional growth. Nativity’s primary goal is to guide motivated students to becomelifelong learners, who in turn, will contribute productively to their families and to their community.

Each year, SJNC welcomes three NDMV/AmeriCorps Interns to assist the Center in various areas of operations. The Interns’ skills and interests are matched with the Center’s needs. Throughout the year, interests and needs may change; therefore, with consultation, an Intern’s tasks and assignments may be combined or augmented with other duties.

Qualifications:
• An undergraduate college degree
• Excellent communication and collaborative leadership skills as well as organizational skills
• Having had a variety of personal volunteer experiences
• Likes working with people from many different backgrounds
• Is flexible and is open to new experiences
• A dedication and passion for service
Compensation:
• An annual living allowance of $14,279/year (pre-tax figure)
